“…Stuknyte et al [41] observed a reduction of the immunomodulatory properties of casein hydrolysates when the bacterial cells of L. helveticus MIMLh5, used for the digestion of casein, were removed by ultrafiltration. More recently, a strain of L. helveticus isolated from fresh artisan Pasta Filata cheese showed in vivo anti-inflammatory effects as it stimulated the production of interleukin 10 (IL-10) and lowered that of the tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α) by peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) [28].
