“…Until the 1980s, documents on CI were based almost exclusively on the collection of information for decision making (Du Toit 2015). Later, CI began to be positioned as a formal function within companies in the USA (Begg and Toit 2007), but it was not until the 1990s that CI began to gain momentum (Du Toit and Muller 2005).
