Training Performance in Diagnosis of Congenital Uterine Anomalies With 3‐Dimensional Sonography

Abstract: Learning curve CUSUM provided quantitative indicators of the learning evolution of 3D sonography for diagnosis of congenital uterine anomalies by obstetrics and gynecology residents. The training received by the residents was adequate for diagnosis of congenital uterine anomalies using 3D sonography.

“…Introduced some years ago into clinical practice, the use of 3D‐TVS allows the acquisition and storage of 3D volumes of structures of interest, which can then be assessed offline and used for teaching purposes. We hypothesized that the combined use of real‐time TVS and evaluation of 3D volumes offline could provide adequate training for TVS assessment of DIE in a relatively short period of time.…”

“…Other studies proved, in addition to integrated ultrasound curricula, that further complementary teaching methods like hands-on courses, workshops and ultrasound simulators can significantly improve ultrasound skills (Nitsche & Brost, 2013;Staboulidou et al, 2010;Pascual et al, 2016;Macedonia et al, 2003 (Lees & Hinshaw, 2010).…”

“…Evaluating the learning curve (LC) in a structured program is useful for standardizing medical procedures [8][9][10]. Similar studies have been proposed in gynecological ultrasound examinations for other conditions, such as ovarian cancer, endometriosis, or congenital uterine anomalies [8][9][10].…”
