Transcatheter Closure of Perimembranous Ventricular Septal Defects Including Multifenestrated and Gerbode-Type Defects Using the Lifetech Konar Device

Francois Godart,
Jean Benoit Baudelet,
Alexandre Delarue
et al.

Abstract: (1) Transcatheter closure of perimembranous ventricular septal defects (PmVSD) is becoming more attractive and effective with the development of new occluders. The aim of this study was to report a single-center experience in PmVSD closure using the Lifetech Konar-multifunctional occluder (MFO). (2) From March 2019 to October 2022, 43 consecutive patients were enrolled in the study. Among them, 13 had multifenestrated PmVSD including 5 Gerbode-type defects. (3) There were 23 males/20 females, and the median ag… Show more

“…The Amplatzer Membranous VSD Occluder II has been used in case reports with no reported conduction abnormalities [45]. The Shanghai pmVSD occluder (Shape Memory Alloy Ltd., Shanghai, China) [46], the Occlutech pmVSD Occluder (Figure 5) (Occlutech, Helsingborg, Sweden) [44], and the KONAR-MF™ VSD occluder (Lifetech, Shenzhen, China) [37,47] are all pmVSD devices that are on the horizon which have been approved for use abroad and demonstrate promising results-a recent meta-analysis cited a pooled rate of overall success at 97.8%, a pooled incidence rate of AR at 2.0%, and a pooled incidence rate of CHB at 1.1%, comparable to the less than 1% risk for CHB in surgical VSD patients [44].…”
