Transcriptome Analysis Reveals a Gene Expression Pattern That Contributes to Sugarcane Bud Propagation Induced by Indole-3-Butyric Acid

Abstract: Sugarcane is a cash crop that plays an integral part in the sugar industry. The Sustainable Sugarcane Initiative (SSI) has been adopted globally, ensuring enough and aiming for more yield, helping increase disease-free sugarcane cultivation. Single-bud seeds could be the best approach for sugarcane cultivation. Indole-3-butyric acid (IBA) is a rooting agent utilized significantly in seedling propagation. Greenhouse experiment results discovered the significant growth promotion in sugarcane seedlings and accumu… Show more

“…Up-regulated genes were randomly selected for verification according to Wu et al (2018a) and Xu et al (2022). The validated samples, such as A 1 (0 h), A 2 (2 h), A 3 (4 h), A 4 (8 h) and A 5 (24 h), treated with PEG-6000 (25%) for 0, 2, 4, 8 and 24 h, respectively.…”

“…Abiotic stress is a major problem to sustainable agriculture crop productivity around the globe, which can potentially affect the average crop production over 50% (Cui et al, 2017;Naeem et al, 2018;Waqas et al, 2019;Verma et al, 2021;Verma et al, 2022). Drought stress is one of the severe abiotic stress that inhibit plant growth, development and yield (Baiazidi-Aghdam et al, 2016).…”

“…While results from these studies are encouraging, similar studies investigating the interactions between PGPB and different crops need to be pursued. In recent years, there have been some studies using genetic and molecular approaches in crops such as rice, wheat, and sugarcane to investigate these interactions at the host level, which is encouraging ( Chen and Zhu, 2013 ; Camilios-Neto et al, 2014 ; Chen et al, 2015 ; Paungfoo-Lonhienne et al, 2016 ; Xie et al, 2017 ; Rekha et al, 2018 ; Wu et al, 2018 ; Brusamarello-Santos et al, 2019 ; King et al, 2019 ; Thomas et al, 2019 ; Liu et al, 2020 ; Malviya et al, 2020 ; Cook et al, 2022 ; Guo et al, 2022 ; Wiggins et al, 2022 ; Xu et al, 2022 ). This mini-review focuses on key findings from some of these studies and discusses what lies ahead.…”
