Abstract:Mesial Temporal lobe epilepsy (mTLE) is a life-threatening condition characterized by recurrent epileptic seizures initiating in the hippocampus. mTLE can develop after exposure to risk factors such as seizure, trauma, and infection. Within the latent period between exposure and onset of recurrent seizures, pathological remodeling events occur which are believed to contribute to epileptogenesis.
