Abstract:Neural retina from 8- to 9-day embryo chickens was grown in long-term cell culture in an experiment to test the hpothesis that one step during the in vitro transdifferentiation of neural retina into pigment cells occurs in response to stimulation of tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle activity. Time-lapse photography showed that pigment-cell formation occurs through the intermediate stages of ‘undistinguished cells’, ‘pavement epithelium’ and ‘potential pigment cells’. Mitosis of undistinguished cells to pavement e… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
