In support of this assumption, a study in which patients with BPD were randomly assigned to DBT, TFP, or supportive psychotherapy found that reflective functioning (i.e., mentalization) and attachment security improved only in the TFP group, but not the other two interventions (Levy et al ., ), with similar results being reported in a more recent TFP study (Fischer‐Kern et al ., ).
