Background: The digital era has changed the behavior of students who are very responsive to technology, especially social media. However, social media has a different role and impact on their life. Purpose: This study aims to find out the interest of Indonesian and Philippines students in using social media, to find out their activities and their opinions about their social media usage. Method: This study used qualitative descriptive with purposive sampling resulting in eight people as informants spread across Indonesia and the Philippines. Results: This study found that almost all students use and have social media accounts. They use it to access education, and entertainment and to increase their local, national, and international knowledge, especially among those who participate in the Merdeka Learning program, while Philippines students participate in the international lecture program. With the existence of social media, they rarely watch television, radio, and newspaper, although there are some Indonesian informants who still like to read newspapers, there are differences in the interest in using social media by Indonesian and Philippines students. Indonesian students use social media such as Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and Telegram, Meanwhile, Philippines students use Facebook more when interacting with their campus friends. The students see social media changed the pattern of their daily life, for example, the lack of direct social interaction and the increase of cybercrime, while the positive impact of social media is the ability to do storytelling on social media, making it easier to communicate. Conclusion: Philippines students use Facebook more than popular social media such as Instagram and Tiktok, in contrast to Indonesian students who primarily use Instagram and Tiktok. Implication: That both Filipino and Indonesian students utilize social media, but there are differences in their preferences and usage pattern.

Digital marketing communication has a crucial role in the modern marketing era. In this context, digital media is an effective means to reach a wider audience and promote products or services efficiently. This research aims to find out how the implementation of digital marketing communication in Jawa Pos Radar Solo. This research uses a case study research design with descriptive discussion method. By describing data from interviews, observations, and company documents from the object of research, namely the implementation of digital marketing communications at Jawa Pos Radar Solo through various media. So that it can be explained about the implementation of digital marketing communication in Jawa Pos Radar Solo. Jawa Pos Radar Solo has successfully implemented digital marketing communication through various channels, including online public relations, online partnership, interactive advertising, opt-in email marketing, and social media marketing with one-way and two-way communication approaches with full control. Jawa Pos Radar Solo follows the AIDA (Awareness, Interest, Desire, Action) digital marketing communication model in their strategy. The digital marketing communication media used include websites, display ads, email, social media, blogs, word of mouth, and mobile marketing. Despite its success in implementing digital marketing communication, Jawa Pos Radar Solo also faces some obstacles. So to overcome these obstacles, it is necessary to implement several strategies to improve the digital marketing communication of Jawa Pos Radar Solo.

Terjadinya fenomena revolusi 4.0 sangat memengaruhi industri media, termasuk Suara Merdeka. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui transformasi strategis yang diterapkan oleh Suara Merdeka sebagai perusahaan media tertua di Jawa Tengah pada era digital berdasarkan teori mediamorfosis gagasan Roger Fidler. Penelitian ini melakukan kajian secara mendalam melalui konsep mediamorfosis, yaitu proses koevolusi, konvergensi, dan kompleksitas terhadap transformasi Suara Merdeka di era digital. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini ialah studi kasus dengan pendekatan kualitatif, agar dapat memahami dan mengungkap secara mendalam kasus yang terjadi pada Suara Merdeka melalui data kualitatif. Hasil dari penelitian ini bahwa pada proses koevolusi Suara Merdeka telah melakukan komputerisasi dan mengadopsi bahasa digital dengan melahirkan suaramerdeka.com, Suara Merdeka TV pada Youtube, dan e-paper. Pada proses konvergensi, Suara Merdeka telah mengimplementasikan konvergensi digital dan konvergensi jurnalistik. Sedangkan kompleksitas yang terjadi pada Suara Merdeka, yaitu mengalami prediksi kebangkrutan perusahaan dan kurang maksimalnya pengadopsian produk jurnalistik hasil digitalisasi, e-paper. Namun, hal tersebut dijadikan peluang bagi Suara Merdeka untuk dapat memperpanjang usia koran Harian Suara Merdeka dan mempertahankan eksistensinya.
