Transformation of ecosystems glacial lakes in Ukrainian Carpathians

Abstract: The sizes of glacial lakes of the Ukrainian Carpathians without surface water runoff (Brebeneskul, Nesamovyte – the last 130 years, Verhne Ozirne, Nyzhne Ozirne – the last 50 years) and surface water runoff lakes Dogyaska (the last 30 years) has not substantial changes. The lakes Maricheyka and Vorozheska considerably decreased in area (20–40 % of previous squares), obviously, due to the erosion of rocky moraines-damages. Comparison of photos lakes Nesamovyte (1935–2008) has not showed changes of the outlines … Show more

“…In addition to rare forms, for the first time the presence of filamentous Charophyta algae and mucilage-forming coccoid and flagellar green algae was noted (Mougeotia, Spirogyra, Zygnema, Oedogonium, Botryococcus, Chlamydomonas, Mucidosphaerium, Chlorella, Mychonastes, Westella). These findings indicate the probable degradation of the alpine ecosystem from oligotrophic waterbody in the early 20 th century into its transformed status to mesotrophic type and settlement of its ecotopes by common species with a wide ecological amplitude [4,6,33].…”

“…The species composition of Chlorophyta in alpine lakes is characterized by a low level of diversity in general, but often reveals features of uniqueness and ecological specificity [34,49,58,127], which was reported at the beginning of the twentieth century at the first stage of investigations of algae in oligotrophic lake Nesamovyte [61,67]. The findings of noted algae from "green" phyla indicate the probable degradation of the alpine oligotrophic ecosystem of the lake with the earliest possible data (early twentieth century), its transformation to oligo-mesotrophic status nowadays and the settlement of its ecotopes by common species with a wide ecological amplitude [11,61,66,121].…”

“…Half a century later (1967-1978 studied period) the targeted studies of species diversity of euglenoid and desmids algae [2][3][4] from different ecotopes of the lake revealed 102 species of algae. The core divisions of Charophyta (66) and Euglenozoa (9), were added by different divisions presented by Cyanobacteria (3), Cryptophyta (1), Ochrophyta (2), Miozoa (2), Chlorophyta (4) and Bacillariophyta (15) (Table 2).…”

Таким чином, водорості боліт, як стабільний фітокомпонент цих екосистем, досі залишаються недостатньо вивченою складовою альгофлори України (Tsarenko, Palamar-Mordvintseva, 2012).…”
