PurposeConsidering the problems faced by the home appliance industry in Iran, such as the increase in waste, lack of information transparency and lack of traceability of manufactured products, etc. the companies in the home appliance industry are moving toward Industry 4.0 and have been prompted to use it. On the other hand, the adoption of Industry 4.0 is associated with challenges that may lead to the failure of the adoption project and the bankruptcy of home appliance manufacturers. This study identified the challenges in the implementation of Industry 4.0 on current status and provided suitable solutions to overcome the identified challenges.Design/methodology/approachIn this study, a review of the literature and background of Industry 4.0 identified the challenges that influence the adoption of Industry 4.0. To measure the current status of the identified challenges, the opinions of experts in the Iranian home appliance industry were used. To find solutions to the challenges in the adoption of Industry 4.0 in the Iranian home appliance industry, a fuzzy cognitive mapping and scenario design were used.FindingsThe results of this study show that to face the challenge of data sharing, skilled personnel should be effectively promoted among workers in the home appliance industry. The results of this study also show that the barriers to cooperation should be removed to reduce the impact of the IT Security Concerns challenge.Originality/valueThis paper is the first article that identifies the challenges and effective solutions for implementing Industry 4.0 in the home appliance industry.

The article provides a solution to the problem of studying the characteristics of resource efficiency for a given time interval in the form of solving an optimization problem (using dynamic programming methods and the method of recurrent Bellman equations. A multistep search for a solution was carried out for a given period of planning production activities. Boundary requirements were met in different ways due to the multivariate management decisions. The features of the optimization model were considered. The solution of the multistep problem is reduced to the sequential solution of several one-step optimization problems. The function of changes in resource efficiency in lean manufacturing technologies was set for the planning period. Changes in technologies for the capability involved demonstrate how resource efficiency changes with the observation time. It is noted thaqt the experience accumulation of experts and participants in the production process in the implementation of innovative approaches is of great importance for reducing all types of losses. It was revealed that one of the crucial parameters in a multi-criteria system is the preservation of efficient operation in the subsystem associated with intelligent decision support. The optimal amounts of costs have been determined. Their assessment was carried out to allow for the fact that when solving optimization problems, it is necessary to take into account such criteria for which the values take extrema. Assuming a successful solution of the optimization problem posed and analyzing the results obtained when dividing the multistep decision into three one-step ones, we received S-shaped functions with a function value equal to 6.8%

The most important factor in maintaining the positions of Russian oil companies at the global level is taking into account the factors of changes in the external environment and the activation of internal reserves. The development of effective management decision support systems requires new management concepts based on current advances in production management theory and practice. The article proposes an approach based on determining the optimal combination of resources used in the production process and assessing their impact on the formation of production costs. The concept of cost management is based on an analysis, included the specifics of the enterprise’s internal environment and an assessment of the external environment impact on it. A cost management methodology has been developed to reduce the labour intensity of decision-making and the likelihood of technical selection errors, and to increase the efficiency of resource use and cost management. The proposed approach to cost management model formation has been recommended for using at oil industry enterprises. It can also be applied to enterprises in other industries by developing key performance indicators that affect the main cost items of the technological process under consideration.
