A fast, accurate and reliable optimum design methodology and software Analytical calculations and optimization FEM accuracy tests Purpose: It is aimed at to develop a simple and accurate methodology and a design software for single and three-phase iron core shunt reactors.
Theory and Methods:The design software based on the proposed methodology is developed by Matlab/Guide considering the leakage inductance. The accuracy test of the methodology is performed by Ansys/Maxwell FEM analyses.
Results:Several reactor designs with different power and voltage levels are performed by means of the developed methodology and accuracy tests are carried out by FEM analyses. Results show that; the proposed design methodology is fast, accurate and reliable for iron core shunt reactor design.
Conclusion:The proposed metholodogy and software, which performs analytical calculations and optimization of the target reactor under design, in accordance with the pre-determined criteria by the user such as input data, assumptions and design criterion, is developed for both single and three-phase reactors in Matlab/GUIDE environment. The software provides convenience to the designers and researchers, and improves the competition conditions for the producers, since the ability to produce more product types with less cost is possible. Since there is no proposed clear cut design methodology and software in the literature, introduced software may overcome a significant deficiency in the relevant field.
