Abstract: Rotor-bearing systems often exhibit nonlinear behavior due to hydrodynamic effects and external forces. Finite element methods based on linear analysis are commonly used for rotor dynamic analyses, where nonlinear bearing/damping forces are linearized into equivalent stiffness and damping coefficients.
