Transient Performance of the Selectively Passive Compulsator

Abstract: Shorted compensating windings or non-uniform conductive shield can be used in a selectively passive compulsator to compensate the field produced by the armature winding, thus to reduce the impedance and increase the amplitude of the output current. The compensating effect on the inductance of the armature winding changes while the rotor rotates, so it is possible for selective compensation to output a flat top current pulse.
