A novel complex (p cymene)Ru(S 2 C 2 B 10 H 9 )((OH)H 2 CCCHFc) ⋅ 0.5CH 2 Cl 2 (Fc = ferrocenyl) based on the ortho carborane 1,2 dithiolate ligand and alkyne alcohol has been synthesized successfully and characterized by IR, NMR, MS, elemental analysis and single crystal X ray diffraction (CIF file CCDC no. 1007680). The complex crystallizes in monoclinic system, space group C2/c with a = 27.1243 (13), b = 11.8161(6), c = 20.8360(11) Å, β = 108.689(3)°, C 51 H 74 B 20 O 2 S 4 Cl 2 Fe 2 Ru 2 , Mr = 1448.28, V = 6325.9(6) Å 3 , ρ c = 1.521 g/cm 3 , Z = 4, F(000) = 2936, μ(MoK α ) = 1.174 mm -1 , R = 0.0551 and wR = 0.1518 for 5329 observed reflections (I > 2σ(I)). Structural analysis shows that there are metal induced B-H activation, the generation of a Ru-B bond, and the coordination of the C=C bond.
