TRANSITION OF POLICIES FOR URBAN EXPANSION BY MUNICIPAL AUTHORITIES IN TOYAMA FOCUSING ON THEIR DEALING WITH “NON-COMPACT” CITY FORMATION UNTIL 1990’s

Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to reveal transition of awareness of problems and policies for urban expansion in Toyama city. Since the 1960s, they had been concerned about the sprawling phenomenon, and proposed the implementation of planned land readjustment in the area adjacent to the existing urban area as a solution, but results were not efficient.
