Transitions in Midlife Women's Lives: Contemporary Experiences

Abstract: This paper reports on a research project conducted with 40 women living in Perth, Western Australia, which considers how contemporary women experience midlife. Qualitative in-depth interviews provide rich insights into the challenges women face during this transitional period in their lives. In doing so, the research highlights the continuities and divergences which exist between existing literature on the key transitions associated with midlife, and women's own experiences.
