Transmission of the Aegilops ovata chromosomes carrying gametocidal factors in hexaploid triticale (×Triticosecale Wittm.) hybrids

Abstract: The main aim of this work was to induce the chromosome rearrangements between Aegilops ovata (UUMM) and hexaploid triticale (AABBRR) by expression of the gametocidal factor located on the chromosome 4M. The Aegilops ovata × Secale cereale (UUMMRR) amphiploids and triticale ‘Moreno’ were used to produce hybrids by reciprocal crosses. Chromosome dynamics was observed in subsequent generations of hybrids during mitotic metaphase of root meristems and first metaphase of meiosis of pollen mother cells. Chromosomes … Show more

“…geniculata hybrids, which were previously generated by Kwiatek et al (2016c). A GISH analysis of meiosis of PMCs showed that chromosome 4M g was present as a univalent at prophase I (Figure 1b) and metaphase I of meiosis (Figure 1c).…”

“…This kind of genetic stocks is widely used for physical mapping of specific chromosomes (Kynast et al 2004 ) and analyzing alien genes expression (Cho et al 2006 ). The production of alien addition lines and the introgressions with alien chromosome segments carrying target traits can be induced by homoeologous recombination or the gametocidal effect (Kwiatek et al 2016a , b ).…”
