Transparent p-type conducting BaCu2S2 films

Abstract: p -type conducting films of α-BuCu2S2 have been deposited onto glass and KBr substrates, yielding a conductivity of 17 S/cm and a Hall mobility of 3.5 cm2/V s. For a 430-nm-thick film, the optical transparency approaches 90% in the visible portion of the spectrum at 650 nm, and a transparency of 40% extends throughout the infrared to the long-wavelength cutoff of the KBr substrate at 23 μm.

“…The experimental band gap of BaCu 2 S 2 was determined to be 1.75 eV by experiment. [9] The HSE result of 1.62 eV matches well with this experimental value, and the slight discrepancy is likely caused by the low density of states (DOS) close to the CBM. The band gaps of the other compounds are not known experimentally.…”

“…The p states of these elements are usually higher, making their compounds more prone to being p-type doped. Recently, some effort has been made to investigate the potential of using Cu-containing chalcogenides, such as LaOCuS [8] and BaCu 2 S 2 [9], as p-type transparent semiconductors.…”

“…Nickel and cobalt oxide shows p-type semiconducting behavior similar to intrinsic spinel cobalt oxide 4 . Our interest in nickel cobalt oxide is due to their enormous uses like as electrode material in batteries 5 in solar cells 6 , a heterogeneous optical recording media 7 , super capacitor 8 , sensors or optical limiters, switches 9 and in flat panel displays etc. The spinel oxide of nickel-cobalt has well documented and established applications in electrochemistry.…”

“…Relatively few wide-bandgap, p-type semiconductors appropriate for use as p-type thinfilm window layers are known to exist [25], [26], [27], [28], [29], [31], [32], [33], [34], [35]. Table 2 is a list of wide-bandgap p-type material candidates.…”
