Abstract:Reverse Osmosis (RO) membranes are widespread nowadays for separating solvent from a solution. Experiments show that changes in relative interaction of solvent and solute with RO membrane matrix lead to changes in solvent permeation, solute rejection and fouling. Here we study microscopically separation of binary mixture through RO polymeric membrane using Molecular Dynamics simulation. We find better solvent permeation and solute rejection with increasing interaction between solute and membrane but fouling by… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
