Benefit-cost model is used to evaluate urban transportation systems. The economic evaluation is based on the transportation model. Data exchange between economic evaluation and transportation models can improve the efficiency of urban transportation analysis. Before the model is established, certain assumptions are applied considering different income, trip purposes, monetary value, and vehicle operating cost. Moreover, the composition of benefit and cost items is discussed such as time saving benefit, vehicle operating cost saving benefit, safety benefit, environmental benefit, direct cost, and indirect cost. The methods for calculating various components are analyzed, and relevant parameters are determined.
