“…Such approaches first require acknowledgment of the likely prevalence of trauma among various populations, followed by recognition of how individuals' actions and behaviors are influenced by trauma, effective responses by providers and other professionals, and avoidance of retraumatization (SAMHSA, 2014). These activities have been applied to a variety of disciplines and activities, including the work of medicolegal death investigators (Drake & Burton, 2022), nursing education (Anderson et al, 2023), care of LGBTQIA+ populations (Murkerjee et al, 2021), mothers of NICU-hospitalized children (Rodrigues et al, 2023), and many others. In developing trauma-informed research approaches, it is therefore necessary to consider not only the potentially traumatic phenomenon of interest but also ways in which trauma may be present in other aspects of participants' lives.…”
