Treatability influence of municipal sewage effluent on surface water quality assessment based on Nemerow pollution index using an artificial neural network

Abstract: Assessing water quality provides a scientific foundation for the development and management of water resources. The objective of the research is to evaluate the impact treated effluent from North Rustumiyia wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) on the quality of Diyala river. The model of the artificial neural network (ANN) and factor analysis (FA) based on Nemerow pollution index (NPI). To define important water quality parameters for North Al-Rustumiyia for the line(F2), the Nemerow Pollution Index was introduce… Show more

“…O fator 1,732, matematicamente igual a 3 Essa métrica é considerada uma abordagem eficaz para avaliar a qualidade da água, pois possui procedimento matemático simples, efeito integrado satisfatório. Também, destaca a influência do efeito de poluentes de alta concentração (Mohammed;Al-Obaidi, 2021). Possui flexibilidade na seleção de parâmetros, bem como na escolha dos padrões e diretrizes de qualidade da água a serem utilizados como referência, segundo seu propósito.…”

“…(2018) used the integrated water quality identification index method and the Nemerow pollution index method to assess the level of pollution based on historical data on the water quality for the previous 5 years. Mohammed and Al‐Obaidi (2021) successfully mapped water quality using neural network model based on the results of water quality evaluation by Nemerow index method. Based on 3 years of monthly monitoring data from Xinlizheng reservoir, Zhang et al.…”

“…The WWTP can generate major environmental and public health problems since the discharge of contaminated effluent to a receiving body of water might lead to various diseases and transmit them to humans and marine life. Environmental rules impose restrictions on effluent that each WWTP must adhere to [1]. Because there is difference of the pollutants concentration, the waste released into the river, it was found that these pollutants present in the river reduce the effects of solar energy absorption, resulting in a lower rate of photosynthesis and slows down natural water purification processes and the long effect of this is environmental degradation [2].…”
