Treatment of COVID-19 Patients: Insights into the Use of Bone Marrow-Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells

Abstract: Patients with SARS-CoV-2 may be affected by the acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), which has been associated with high mortality rate. As no specific drugs are available for ARDS, mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) seems to be a promising cell therapy due to immunomodulatory effects on reducing and healing inflammation-induced lung and other tissue injuries.
