“…In the present study, YQYY-L signi cantly reduced gene expression levels of PEPCK and G6Pase in the liver tissue of db/db mice, resulting in decreased glucose production in the liver. Moreover, it has been shown that AMPK activation inhibits the dephosphorylation of p-GSK-3β, which in turn promotes glycogen synthesis 37,39 . These observations are consistent with the results here, with the levels of p-AMPK, the activated form of AMPK, higher following the administration of YQYY in db/db mice, resulting in the activation of GS.…”

“…세계보건기구에서는 당뇨병의 치료에 효과가 있고 부작용이 적은 천연물의 이용을 적극적으로 추천한 바 있어 [10], 최근에는 기존 당 뇨병 치료제를 대체하기 위해 천연물로부터 당뇨병 치료 약물을 탐 색하기 위한 연구들이 활발하게 진행되고 있다 [11][12][13].…”

“…Finally, luteolin-7-O-rutinoside, rutin, isoorientin, and orientin were identified as the main phenolic compounds of ethyl acetate fraction of D. morbifera using ultra-performance liquid chromatography/quadrupole time of flight tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-QTOF/MS) analysis [ 14 ]. Other studies reported that the administration of D. morbifera at 50, 100, and 200 mg/kg concentration-dependently stimulated AMP-activated protein kinase in the liver, adipose tissue, and skeletal muscle, leading to the development of protein and gene expressions related to insulin resistance and glucose homeostasis in db/db mice [ 89 ]. Interestingly, Young et al showed that the four extracts, including the water extracts of the leaves and stem and ethanol extracts of the leaves and stem, of D. morbifera administered at 25 to 100 µg/kg maintained body weight, enhanced insulin concentration, and reduced the glucose concentration in the blood in streptozotocin-induced diabetic mice [ 31 ].…”
