Treatment of industrial wastewater in the sequential membrane bioreactor

Abstract: Abstract:The aim of presented study which was associated with modification of the various work cycle phases duration in the membrane bioreactor, was to reduce the concentration of phosphate phosphorus during the leachate co-treatment with dairy wastewater. The experimental set-up was comprised of the membrane bioreactor equipped with the immersed membrane module installed inside the reactor chamber, and the equalization tank. During the co-treatment experiment performance the excessive activated sludge was con… Show more

“…Despite the increase in efficiency of phosphorus removal, its permissible concentration specified in the Regulation of the Minister of the Environment[21] (P tot = 2 mg/L) was still exceeded. In order to improve the effectiveness of phosphate removal, the cycle of operation of SBR should be modified by means of changes in the duration of aerobic-anaerobic phases[28].3.1.3. Removal of Color and TurbidityFigures 4 and 5 show the treatment efficiency of the SBR system with respect to the changes in the color and the turbidity.…”

“…The data obtained as a result of the analysis of each pore blocking mechanism for the ultrafiltration of oil-in-water solutions with addition of NaCl by ceramic 300 kDa membrane are presented in Table 7. Table 7 The values of k and values of standard deviation, estimated using equations (13)(14)(15)(16) and (19) (19), standard deviation, represents very small values of the order of 10 -7 . It means that in investigated system more than one fouling mechanism is involved.…”

“…In the literature, there are many papers on the application of membrane processes and polymeric and inorganic membranes for both oily wastewater and industrial wastewaters treatment [15,16]. Some of these papers deal with membrane production and modifications of membrane surface [17].…”

“…The analysis of results obtained during the laboratory research conducted with a sequencing batch reactor (SBR) indicates that, by employing the multi-dimensional signals analysis methods, each profile, understood as a combination of sensor signals, may be assigned to a given class, representing individual phases of reactor operation. SBRs are often used for scientific research and implementation of new solutions or exploitation strategies [2,[26][27][28].…”
