“…The use of chemical curettage (13), cryotherapy (14,15), or resection without continuity (16) has been advocated to ensure removing remaining epithelium. However, in our series, both the cases treated with enucleation in combination with Carnoy’s solution developed a recurrence.…”

“…Bataineh and Al Qudah [59] advocated that resection without continuity, defects as a radical treatment, in which the removal of cyst, teeth, and overlying soft tissue is followed by packing of the resulting cavity to minimize the risk of recurrence. In order to minimizing the recurrence, eliminating the retention areas around the periapical portion of extracted teeth and the eradication of cyst, the teeth were removed during the surgical treatment in one case.…”

“…The recurrence rate with total resection varies among reports. Bataineh and al Qudah (1998) reported 0% of recurrence rate in their own 31 cases of mandibular KCOT but review of the literature has indicated that recurrence rates may vary from 0 to 62%. The high recurrence rate then led surgeons to believe that that complete removal of the KCOT with meticulous curettage of surrounding tissues was necessary in order to address the problem of high recurrence.…”
