The loss of upper front dental elements causes functional and psychosocial problems to the affected individuals. In this case report, the treatment planning considered hard and soft tissue loss for a complex fixed partial denture (FPD) rehabilitation. The six-element, all-ceramic FPD was manufactured using a computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing system with zirconia framework, veneered with leucite-reinforced ceramic. Ceramic artificial gum was also produced to guarantee tooth-facial proportions as well as lip support, promoting both esthetics and phonetics. The material's mechanical properties allowed for the coupling of the esthetic and mechanical requirements, proving an alternative to the well-established metal-ceramic technology, optimizing biomimetic. One of the endodontic-treated abutment teeth required a radicular retainer with cast metal post, but because of the opacity of zirconia, the esthetics of the prosthesis was not compromised. The low silica content of high resistance ceramics such as zirconia hampers the adhesive cementation, with numerous studies advocating for different cementation protocols, with no clear scientific consensus so far. In the present case, the internal surface of the FPD was initially blasted with aluminum oxide, followed by the application of a universal adhesive system containing 10-methacryloyloxydecyl dihydrogen phosphate. Finally, cementation to the dental structure was conducted with dual-cure self-adhesive resin cement.

O Objetivo deste trabalho visa apresentar o fluxo de trabalho digital na implantodontia, desde o planejamento protético, cirúrgico e posterior reabilitação protética. Foram realizada uma busca na base de dados PubMed, Google Acadêmico e Scielo. O scanner intra-oral possibilita um modelo de trabalho rápido e satisfatório nos mínimos detalhes para uma reabilitação protética sobre implante. A importância do planejamento digital cirúrgico é visar previsibilidade do tratamento, evitando intercorrências e possibilitando ao paciente um pós-operatório seguro. O escaneamento virtual é uma alternativa para substituir a moldagem convencional, evitando erros de moldagem. O modelo digitalizado, o operador tem a possibilidade de fazer planejamentos com implantes associando com a tomografia digital (Cone Beam), transferindo as principais informações do paciente para o planejamento. Com a finalidade de qualificar o trabalho do cirurgião-dentista, o scanner intra-oral elimina etapas do sistema convencional e auxiliando na comunicação com o técnico em prótese dentária através do sistema CAD/CAM.

Background: Digital Smile Design (DSD) is a method that helps predict digitally the outcome of a smile based on the use of both static or dynamic images, in order to plan simple or complex rehabilitation cases, to "draw a smile". It is a valuable resource used to show the outcome of the treatment, to evaluate the aesthetic rehabilitation, to complete the diagnosis and improve communication with patients, laboratories and interdisciplinary clinicians. JPEG photos and STL files are forwarded to the laboratory and imported in CAD-CAM to make a mock-up and a provisional restoration. Thus, it is possible to check each step of the planning and make any corrections necessary. Objective: The present article is a comprehensive review on DSD, including every field in which it extends. Data sources: The research includes articles featuring the keywords: digital smile design, prosthodontic, surgery, digital flow, orthodontics and was conducted in two different databases, PubMed and Google Scholar. Study Selection: After screening and removing the duplicates, 22 articles from Pubmed and 11 from Google Scholar were selected. Data extraction: The analysis included 13 articles regarding prosthetic rehabilitations, 7 articles about surgery (periodontal or rehabilitation), 11 articles describing DSD and 2 articles about orthodontics. The research included articles in English from 2000 to 2018. Data synthesis: DSD is an excellent way to design dental treatments thanks to its versatility in managing the treatment plan; however further improvements are required to refine the software and permit an appropriate clinical application.
