Treatment of Verruca Plana With Topical Combination of Calcipotriol and Fluorouracil

Abstract

Verrucae plana (VPs), or flat warts, are a very common infectious skin disease caused by human papillomavirus (HPV). Although several pharmacological and physical treatments, including salicylic acid, cryosurgery, tretinoin, fluorouracil, and imiquimod, are available, treatment of multiple VPs remains a challenge because results are often unsatisfactory. We report 2 patients with multiple VPs who were successfully treated with a short-course combination of topical calcipotriol and fluorouracil with minimal adverse effects. To our knowledge, this combination has not been previously reported for the treatment of VP.Report of Cases | Case 1.
