“…Patients with lung problems had unfavorable MDR TB treatment outcomes. This finding is supported by the finding from Yemen (44), China (45) and Russia (46). This can be attributed to lung cavitation is associated with higher sputum mycobacterial load at baseline, and this can be related to delay sputum smear conversion, treatment failure and death (47).…”

“…This is similar to ndings from a systematic review and meta-analysis on treatment outcomes for DR-TB patients on a communitybased model of careof studies on found that age was not a signi cant contributor to treatment outcomes irrespective of the model of care (20). However, in some instances, advanced age has been found to be signi cantly associated with unfavorable outcomes among MDR-TB (32)(33)(34). The ndings in our study could be explained by the fact that the majority (78.9%) of the study participants were less than 45 years of age.…”

“…11 , 12 DR-TB patients display relatively low treatment adherence and success rates, this phenomenon may have a negative impact on tuberculosis prevention and control. 13 Several studies have assessed the effectiveness of DR-TB treatment in Urumqi, revealing a success rate of only approximately 60%. 14 Since there is increased human mobility in Urumqi due to the crucial transit point on the Silk Road, there is significant cross-border transmission of TB, especially DR strains.…”
