“…Studies exploring the career development of newly emerging professions (Rainey, 2009), like librarians, are seldom the preference of researchers. Even within the existing body of Library and Information Science (LIS) literature, most studies conducted by other researchers in the past focused mainly on the technical aspects of librarianship, such as records management, cataloging and other issues related to reader services, instead of investigating the career and curriculum development of the LIS profession – for example Miwa (2006). This trend means that people outside the LIS profession (and even among ourselves) know little about recent trends and career development of a practicing librarian as well as how the Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) students perceive their career development and why they join an MLIS program, referred to as learning motivation (Lo et al, 2015), in particular.…”

“…There are numerous analyses of university LIS education, covering practically all parts of the world, including Europe (Borrego, 2015), Great Britain (Lowe, 2006;Marcella;Oppenheim, 2020), the United States (Dalrymple, 1997), Canada (Curry, 2000), Australia (Harvey, 2011;Weatherburn;Harvey, 2016), Asia (Miwa, 2006;Kaur, 2015), India (Kumar;Sharma, 2010;Kaur, 2015), and Africa and South Africa (Ocholla;Bothma, 2007), among others, who all adopt a largely descriptive approach. The word "crisis" is present in many of these analyses (Dillon;Norris, 2005), leading to reflection on challenges and opportunities in LIS education (Cronin, 2012).…”

“…A literature survey toward quality assurance in library and information science (hereafter called LIS) in Asia yielded few results such as writings of , , Miwa (2006), Sajjad ur Rehman (2008); papers of Maesaroh andGenoni (2009) andSulistyo-Basuki (2006) provided little information on that matter. This paper studies the current quality assurance in Indonesia based on the available writings in Bahasa Indonesia (the lingua franca or national language of Indonesia), the available grey literature and interviews.…”
