Abstract:Three main basic forms of vocal rehabilitation are available for post-laryngectomy patients in this country: oesophageal, mechanical vibrator and valved speech. In Sheffield, we advocate the use of valved speech, and insertion of the prosthesis preferably at the time of laryngectomy.
