“…The hypothyroidism group consisted of a random sample of 100 consecutive recruited patients. The diagnosis of hypothyroidism was confirmed according to the criteria published by the American Thyroid Association (11) and the hormonal diagnosis was based on a detection kit through ELISA with a thyroid panel (free T4 and TSH) from the commercial house MONOBIND INC which has been validated internationally (12).
