Triacontanol-mediated regulation of growth and other physiological attributes, active constituents and yield of Mentha arvensis L.

Abstract: Triacontanol (TRIA) has been realized as a potent plant growth promoting substance for a number of agricultural and horticultural crops. Out of a large number of essential oil bearing plants, mint (Mentha arvensis L.) constitutes the most important source of therapeutic agents used in the alternative systems of medicine. The mint plant has marvelous medicinal properties. In view of enhancing growth, yield and quality of this medicinally important plant, a pot experiment was conducted according to simple random… Show more

“…The TRIA alone or in combination with gibberellic acid significantly enhanced the activities of NR and CA in artemisia and coriander ). Moreover, a remarkable enhancement in the activities of NR and CA in hyacinth bean, coffee senna and mint was reported by Naeem et al (2009Naeem et al ( , 2010Naeem et al ( , 2011 as a result of TRIA application. Naeem et al (2009) reported significant effect of foliar application of TRIA on N, P, K, and Ca content of leaves in hyacinth bean.…”

“…Similarly, TRIA alone or in combination with gibberellic acid (1.5 mg L Á1 of TRIA'75 mg L Á1 of GA 3 ) significantly increased the net photosynthetic rate, stomatal conductance and internal CO 2 concentration in Artemisia annua . Moreover, Naeem et al (2009Naeem et al ( , 2010Naeem et al ( , 2011 also found the significant effect of TRIA on photosynthetic parameters regarding hyacinth bean (Lablab purpureus L.), coffee senna (Senna occidentalis L.), and Japanese mint (Mentha arvensis L).…”
