Show more

“…Methodological triangulation was composed of different evidence sources and distinct collection techniques, contributing to research reliability and validity (Bruning, Godri & Takahashi, 2018). The researchers' self-reflexivity was adopted during all stages of the research, from the construction of the literature review to the case selection and the collection and analysis of the data (Tracy, 2010).…”

“…Triangulation was used as a form of validation and reliability of the data. This method consisted in the triangulation of data from the use of multiple sources of empirical evidence, because the diversity of subjects interviewed represents a triangulation of the evidence sources (Bruning, Godri, & Takahashi, 2018). All the interviews were conducted and transcribed in Portuguese, but the reports from these interviews cited in this paper were freely translated into English.…”

“…Regarding research rigor, the diversity of cases in this multi-case study contributes to the research validity and reliability (Eisenhardt and Graebner, 2007) through triangulation of data, consisting of the diversity of subjects interviewed that represents a triangulation of the evidence sources (Bruning et al , 2018). As it is an investigation of phenomena related to the pre-formation and the formation of social enterprises, the data are inherent to the individual level of the founders, and it was not possible to expand the understanding to other sources of data collection such as documents and observations.…”

“…Nevertheless, to validate and improve the research rigor, other quality criteria were adopted, as researcher triangulation (Bruning et al , 2018; Yin, 2015), which made it possible to deepen the data analysis and minimize possible bias on the findings. Also, the theoretical/perspective triangulation (Patton, 1999) was also possible through the use of both creation and discovery theories precepts.…”
