The increasing cost of fuel oil forced the industry to search for alternate fuels, and biomass. In general, rice husks were considered an appropriate substitute for producing energy. Because, the use of rice husk offered lot of benefits such as reduction in emission of sulfur and other pollutants connected with the use of other fossil fuel, cheaper than coal (approx. 36%), and carbon neutral. Hence, in this paper, water, Fuel and Steam generation data of husk-based Boiler has been measured, numerically analyzed and plotted graphically. The results revealed that husk based thermal power plant has huge potential. Further, it is supposed that exploiting the renewable energy potential and utilizing agricultural waste will be useful to the country’s energy portfolio while adding numerous environmental and social benefits (reducing CO2 emissions, improving air quality, and diminishing the unemployment rate).

To improve the friction and wear performance of the piston-cylinder liner friction pair, inspired by earthworms and leeches, 27 kinds of pistons with cylindrical pit arrays are designed and processed. Through a friction test, four superior textured pistons are optimized, and wear, life and thermal imaging tests are performed. Finite element analysis of the friction pair model is performed, and the friction and wear mechanisms are discussed. The results show that the pistons with cylindrical pit arrays have excellent friction and wear performance, less heat generation by friction, longer lives and less scratches on the cylinder liner. The temperature of the optimized textured pistons was reduced by around 5–10 °C. The wear amount of some textured pistons was reduced by over 50%, resulting in an improvement in their lifespan of at least 30% or more. The results of the finite element analysis indicate that the textured piston exhibited reduced deformation and favorable stress–strain distribution and satisfied the required contact pressure.

Article focuses on the improvement of the technologies used to improve the durability of friction pair components. The authors use the piston compressor to study cellular microrelief surfaces of cylindrical components. The cells are shaped as elliptic paraboloid with uneven positive parameters. The use of cellular microrelief surfaces is highly preferred as they reduce the attrition wear of the friction pairs through assuring the hydrodynamic load capacity of the lubrication layer with the shape of the microrelief. The research goals included the parametric analysis of the lubrication layer behavior in the gap between the microrelief cells. To do this, the authors developed an analytical model based on the theory of hydrodynamic lubrication and constructed a CFD model using the ANSYS Fluent software. To contain the transfer equations, the authors used the turbulence model SST k–ω. Both models showed that the maximum hydrodynamic load capacity coincided with the 75%-length of the major axis of the elliptic cell, which also corresponds to 0.128 mm in cell depth. The maximum lifting hydrodynamic pressure on one microrelief cell amounted to 3 kPa. Based on the results of the parametric analysis, the authors claim that the cellular microrelief can be efficiently used to assure the service properties of friction pairs in process units.
