Tribological properties of dithiocarbamate triazine and its competitive adsorption behavior compared to T701 on the corrosion inhibition of Q235 steel

Abstract: The triazine dithiocarbonate (CDMS) was synthesized from the reactions among diethanolamine, carbon disulfide and 2-chloro-4,6-dimethoxy-1,3,5-triazine. The synthesized CDMS showed excellent anti-wear and friction-reduction properties and outstanding corrosion inhibition for the investigated systems. Besides, the synergy-inhibition effect of the CDMS and T701 compound-inhibitor was investigated compared to the inhibition effect of CDMS, which showed that the inhibition effect of CDMS was superior to that of co… Show more

“…The phase angle diagram (Figure e) shows that as the amount of added ZCQDs increases, the peak phase angle moves in a more negative direction, indicating that the protective film formed becomes denser as the concentration of ZCQDs increases . Moreover, Figure e shows that with the increase of ZCQD concentration, the corresponding maximum phase angle frequency decreases, which may be due to the increase in the coverage and densification of the film formed by ZCQDs on the metal surface. However, it is worth noting that whether ZCQDs are added or not, the phase angle diagram has only one peak, that is, the corrosion process has only one time constant, and the addition of ZCQDs will not affect the corrosion reaction process. , These data strongly prove that ZCQDs can form a protective layer on the metal surface …”

“…Owing to the similar electrochemical behaviors of Q235 steel immersed in 1 M HCl with the presence of FH, thus, the previously polished and weighed Q235 steel specimens were just immersed in 1 M HCl without and with different concentrations of FH inhibitors for 8 h at 298 K. The steel sheets before and after immersion were cleaned with deionized water and absolute ethanol and dried to constant weight. The corrosion rate ( v ) and inhibition efficiency ( η w ) could be calculated by using the following equations 16,22 : vgoodbreak=normalΔmSt ηw()%goodbreak=v0vv0goodbreak×100 where Δ m was the weight loss before and after immersion (g), S was the area of the specimen (cm 2 ), and t was the exposure time (h), respectively. v 0 and v were the corrosion rate (g m −2 h −1 ) in the absence and presence of FH molecules.…”

“…Benzothiazole contains a continuous closed conjugate system containing ten p-electrons that are hybridized by sp 2 , in which the S atom provides a pair of p-electrons which are more likely to coordinate with metal ions to form an adsorption film [22]. Furthermore, the benzene ring in the molecule is found to improve its thermal stability, which is favorable for stable tribological properties [23]. Imidazoline, as a derivative of benzothiazole, has the characteristics of anti-corrosion, anti-bacterial, thermal stability, and low toxicity [24].…”
