Recyclable Trifluoromethylation Reagents from Fluoroform

“…When either hexamethylborazine (B 3 N 3 Me 6 ), trimethyl borate (B­(OMe) 3 ), or trisethyleneoxyborazine ((BOC 2 H 4 N) 3 ) were combined with 1 equiv KCH 2 (SO)­CH 3 , followed by 1 equiv HCF 3 in DMSO solvent, the B–CF 3 adducts were observed ( 1 , 2 , and 3 ) in quantitative conversion within 5 min at room temperature. These three LAs are easily obtained; B­(OMe) 3 is a commodity chemical (<$1/mol), and B 3 N 3 Me 6 and (BOC 2 H 4 N) 3 can be synthesized from simple starting materials (see SI for details).…”
