Triterpene Saponins from the Aerial Parts of Trifolium medium L. var.sarosiense

Abstract: Seven previously unreported triterpene glycosides (1−7) were isolated from methanol extract of the aerial parts of Trifolium medium var. sarosiense (zigzag clover). Their structures were established by the extensive use of 1D and 2D NMR experiments along with ESI-MS and HRMS analyses. Compounds 1−7 are oleanane derivatives characterized by the presence of a keto group at C-22 of an aglycone and a primary alcoholic function at C-24 and differing functions at C-30. Among these, compounds 1−3 and 6 showed a secon… Show more

“…The crude extract from S. virgaurea (common goldenrod) was prepared as described by Pawelec et al (2013). Briefly, the defatted and dried material was extracted under reflux with 70% methanol (3 x 250 mL) for 2 h. The extract was filtered, and the solvent was removed under reduced pressure (40 °C) using a rotary evaporator (Heidolph, Schwabach, Germany).…”

“…The linked scan MS suggests the sequence of pentosyl-deoxyhexosyl-pentosyl chain. The d configurations of the arabinose and ribose and the l configuration of rhamnose were established after hydrolysis of 2 followed by GC analysis [ 20 , 21 , 22 ]. GC-MS analysis of the trimethylsilylates of N -methoximes of the sugars obtained by acid hydrolysis of 2 showed the major peaks at t Rs of 15.29, 15.81, and 17.18 min, respectively.…”
