“…Water temperatures were measured with multiparameter probes (Garda) or with mercury-filled Celsius thermometers (Maggiore) every month and every two weeks in Garda and Maggiore, respectively. In this work, we will use the temperatures measured in the 0-50 m water layer, which coincides with the layer where zooplankton was traditionally sampled for long-term monitoring of deep lakes (de Bernardi et al, 1990;Salmaso and NaselliFlores, 1999).
