“…The extent of bronchiectasis correlated strongly with the extent of decreased attenuation, again supporting the likelihood of small airways disease preceding bronchiectasis . TB has been reported as an important etiology for the development of BO in endemic regions in HIV‐negative patients . Although there was no association between prior TB and mosaic attenuation alone, the strong association with the combination of mosaic attenuation and bronchiectasis suggests that TB may lead to severe chronic lung disease.…”

“…6,17 TB has been reported as an important etiology for the development of BO in endemic regions in HIV-negative patients. [18][19][20] Although there was no association between prior TB and mosaic attenuation alone, the strong association with the combination of mosaic attenuation and bronchiectasis suggests that TB may lead to severe chronic lung disease. There was also a strong association between prior severe pneumonia and mosaic attenuation, as well as the combination of mosaic attenuation and bronchiectasis.…”

“…The prevalence and impact of airflow limitation and/or COPD has been extensively studied and reviewed in asthma and obstructive sleep disorders 14,57,58 , bronchiectasis 59,60 , lung cancer 14,61 , interstitial lung diseases and pulmonary hypertension 62,63 , tuberculosis 64 , and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) 65 , and will not be addressed in this review.…”

“…Greater lung injury, related to disability and impaired quality of life, has been associated with delayed diagnosis of tuberculosis, quantity of previous treatments, smoking, malnutrition, and a high bacillary load at the initiation of antituberculosis therapy. (6)(7)(8)(9)(10) The functional changes resulting from PTB that are observed after treatment manifest as restrictive lung disease (RLD), obstructive lung disease (OLD), or mixed obstructive-restrictive lung disease (MORLD), regardless of the history of exposure to smoking. (11) The most commonly described functional change is OLD.…”

“…(11) The most commonly described functional change is OLD. (6,7,12) The prevalence of OLD after treatment for PTB is estimated to range from 15% to 77%, (10,12) whereas that of MORLD, the second most prevalent, is estimated to range from 9% to 34%. (9,12) At one center in Brazil, MORLD was reported to be the most common functional change, with a prevalence of 34%.…”
