Abstract:Hurricane Odile hit Baja California Sur, Mexico in 2014, causing substantial damage to local steel pole structures (light poles and electricity poles). Based on the failure characteristics observed on such poles, this paper develops an analytical study aimed at evaluating the wind-excited inelastic response of slender vertical cantilever structures.
