Turbulence effects on shaped booms: Central composite design of modeled atmospheric turbulence parameters for sonic boom propagation

Abstract: Propagation of sonic booms through turbulence reduces mean sonic boom perception metric levels and also causes considerable variability. NASA's PCBoom suite of sonic boom acoustic propagation modules includes an approximate method for accounting for the effects of turbulence on traditional N-wave sonic booms.
