Abstract: Purpura fulminans (PF) is a life threatening emergency involving coagulopathy and widespread skin necrosis. Early treatment, especially surgical management, is imperative as prognosis can be very poor. PF is most commonly associated with severe bacterial illness; however, viral causes are also possible.
