“…Figure b shows that compared with L -C 2 H 5 , a 50 nm red shift of the ICT transition from 770 to 820 nm and a 20 nm blue shift of the n -to-π* transition band from 330 to 310 nm have been observed with Fe­(NCS) 2 ( L -C 2 H 5 ) 2 . In addition, two new bands centered at 500 and 382 nm have emerged, which can be assigned to the MLCT (metal-to-ligand charge transfer) from the d π orbitals of the Fe­(NCS) 2 unit into the π* orbitals of L -C 2 H 5 and d-d transition of the LS state Fe­(II) ions, respectively, ,, suggesting the J-aggregated LS state ferrous complex. NIR (808 nm) irradiation on the J-aggregated samples has induced a blue shift of the ICT transition from 820 to 790 nm, accompanied by a slight decrease in the intensity of both the d–d transition and MLCT bands (Figure c), suggesting that the aggregation state has been altered.…”
