Abstract:Artificially increasing the luminosity and the thermal diffusivity of a model is a common tactic adopted in hydrodynamical simulations of stellar convection. In this work, we analyse the impact of these artificial modifications on the physical properties of stellar interiors and specifically on internal gravity waves. We perform two-dimensional simulations of solar-like stars with the MUSIC code. We compare three models with different luminosity enhancement factors to a reference model. The results confirm tha… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
