Two efficient and stable MMSE detection algorithms for the V‐BLAST system

Abstract: For practical consideration, efficient and stable implementation of the promising vertical Bell Labs Layered Space-Time system is highly desirable. The original square-root algorithm (SRA), proposed by Hassibi, for the minimum mean square error detection, is composed of three stages, that is, initialization, ordering, and nulling. Unlike the original SRA whose initialization stage is not completely based on unitary transformations, the three stages of our proposed algorithm #1 are all based on unitary transfor… Show more

“…In this case, conventional QR-based detection may fail to separate the data streams of different users under correlated channels because of the ill-conditioned channel matrix. In [18,19], QR-based detection methods have been proposed to reduce the complexity of MMSE V-BLAST. These modified MMSE V-BLAST detectors are robust to ill-conditioned channels and are suitable for the MU-MIMO precoded system.…”

“…In this subsection, an efficient scheme is introduced to implement QR-based MMSE V-BLAST detection. The proposed scheme can avoid the Givens rotations as required in [18,19]. We first consider the QRD of the augmented channel matrix:…”
