Two new genera, Brevishieldophyes Chakrabarti & Pandit, gen. n. and Mesoshieldophyes Chakrabarti & Pandit, gen. n., and a new species Mesoshieldophyesvarecae Chakrabarti & Pandit, sp. n. are described. These mites are leaf vagrants. The morphological characters of the afore-mentioned genera and those of Ashieldophyes Mohanasundaram are compared. A key for separating the genera within the subfamily Ashieldophyinae is provided. The diagnostic characters of the subfamily Ashieldophyinae are also revised.

One new genus Subductophyes gen. nov. and two new species of eriophyoid mites viz. Subductophyes digitariae sp. nov. infesting Digitaria ciliaris (Retz.) Koeler (Poaceae) and Mesalox mutica sp. nov. infesting Apluda mutica L. (Poaceae) are described in the tribe Phyllocoptini and Anthocoptini (Eriophyidae: Phyllocoptinae) respectively, from West Bengal, India. Relationship of the new genus and species with other related eriophyoid taxa are discussed.

Two new genera and seven new species of eriophyoid mites from China are described and illustrated. They are Alveacaphyllisa clethra gen. nov. & sp. nov. on Clethra barbinervis Sieb. et Zucc. (Clethraceae), Acaricalus liquidambarus sp. nov. on Liquidambar formosana Hance (Altingiaceae), Abacarus dendrocalamus sp. nov. on Dendrocalamus hamiltonii Nees et Arn. ex Munro (Poaceae), Tetra spina sp. nov. on Dalbergia hupeana Hance (Fabaceae), Paraepitrimerus rhododendrus sp. nov. on Rhododendron delavayi Franch. (Ericaceae), Diabsentophyes saurauia gen. nov. & sp. nov. on Saurauia sp. (Actinidiaceae), Diptacus liquidambarus sp. nov. on Liquidambar formosana Hance (Altingiaceae). In addition, images of the characteristics of five new record species are provided, they are: Setoptus semiornatum Pye, 2011 rec. nov. on Pinus sp. (Pinaceae), Calacarus capsica Chakrabarti & Mondal, 1979 rec. nov. on Capsicum annuum Linn.
