In basal forms, such as Cramauchenia Ameghino, 1902 (Late Oligocene-Early Miocene; Dozo and Vera, 2010) or Theosodon Ameghino, 1887 (Early Miocenelate Middle Miocene;McGrath et al, 2018), the nasal aperture occupies an anterior position.
