Two new psathyrelloid species of Coprinopsis (Agaricales, Psathyrellaceae) from China

Abstract: In this study, Coprinopsis jilinensis and Coprinopsis pusilla were introduced, based on their morphological characteristics, the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) and large subunit ribosomal (LSU) region sequences of nrDNA. These new psathyrelloid species were found in Jilin Province, China. Coprinopsis jilinensis has brown pileus, utriform pleurocystidia, brown, smooth, dextrinoid basidiospores and tiny pore. It mainly grows on humus. Coprinopsis pusilla has small basidiomata, greyish-white pileus, thick and … Show more

“…The macroscopic and microscopic morphological identification was carried out according to the Rao et al Total DNA was extracted from dried fruiting bodies and pure mycelium, respectively, using the new plant genomic DNA extraction kit. The methods of Rao et al and Wen et al were used with slight modifications and primers ITS1 and ITS4 were used to conduct the PCR reaction [ 20 , 21 ]. The sequencing work was entrusted to a sequencing company (Sangon, Shanghai, China), and the sequencing results were clipped with Bioedit 7.1.3 and then submitted to GenBank.…”

“…The morphological descriptions follow Largent, Johnson & Watling (1977) . As previously described in Rao et al (2021b) , data were collected. Specifically, the following symbols were used in the description: [n/m/p] indicates that ‘n’ randomly selected basidiospores from ‘m’ basidiomata of ‘p’ collections were measured, ‘avl’ means the average length of basidiospores, except for the extreme values, ‘avw’ refers to the average width of the basidiospores, except the extreme values, ‘Q’ represents the quotient of the length and width of a single basidiospore inside view, ‘Qm’ refers to the average Q value of all basidiospores ± standard deviation.…”

“…Species of this genus commonly occupy terrestrial habitats, that is, coprophilous or lignicolous (Redhead et al, 2001). The genus contains 200 described species worldwide (Kirk et al, 2008), although according to Rao et al (2021) 228 taxa of Coprinopsis are registered in Index Fungorum.…”
